Blue Witches Hat (Pycnostachys urticifolia)

This South African shrub adds color to the winter garden since it blooms from fall through springtime and it’s a reliable bloomer the first year. The 4” cobalt blue flowers form on the branching tips and they open from the bottom giving the appearance of a witch’s hat with a wide brim. The green glossy leaves are heart shaped.
