This fast-growing tropical fern sports large, deep green mature fronds with new fronds emerging from the center as a blaze of red, like lava from a volcano. As the red fronds mature, they turn bronze and then glossy green. This rare Dwarf Brazilian Tree Fern originates from South America and has attractive pinnate leaves, and the large fronds can grow up to 28” long. As the plant matures, the fern will form a small trunk. Grow in a pot inside under bright indirect light or outdoors in a shady location during the warm summer months. Remember to keep evenly moist.
Special Note: To achieve the bright red emerging fronds, ‘Volcano’ must be grown in bright light. We recommend potting into a 6” pot and giving the plant plenty of room to fill out. In lower light the young fronds emerge bronze or rust-colored before turning green.
